In the crushing depths beneath Tythas City lies one of the most dangerous places on planet Daleem, Mining Platform Omega-9, a place where only the toughest and bravest of laborers dare to work. As one of the deepest and largest rigs in the city’s Abyssal sector, built to extract Rhydonium from the ocean crust below, the platform is a confusing maze of walkways, pipes, and massive drills that shake the seafloor.
The environment is more dangerous than any space station—low light, freezing temperatures, oppressive pressure that causes tremors, ratting the facility. The structure itself is a death trap in waiting; rusted catwalks groan under the weight of movement, coolant leaks form icicles and black ice on metal flooring, and sudden pressure fluctuations can send entire sections into lockdown and depressurization.
Some areas are exposed to the ocean and permanently closed off. Others are close to catastrophic depressurization, and leaks are common and deadly at this pressure. Each compartment is divided from the others with bulkheads and blast doors which can close in seconds. When death comes it comes suddenly and it comes unexpectedly.
The main drill shaft plunges into the darkness below the platform, a bottomless pit of unknown horrors visible only through sparse sensors and vidcams, around the shaft mineral extractors constantly grind water, rock and mud, while conveyor belts carrying raw materials web through the interior towards the extraction facility.
Pray you can get out before the pressure or the dark take you.
